Dear Member Countries of the World Federation of Rose Societies,

In these unprecedented times we all need something positive to focus on. Growing roses as we all know, is a wonderful hobby. And it offers so much more, by keeping us healthy and contributing to the well-being of our remarkable planet. Never before have we needed gardening as much as we do today, in the face of so many challenges, such as global warming.

I have great pleasure to enclose the latest issue of ‘World Rose News’. Editor Steve Jones has conjured up another great edition which truly underpins and celebrates the sheer majesty of the rose around the world.

Our diligent band of Vice Presidents present in-depth reports from their various regions: Ines Diaz de Licandro highlights the floral delights created by the wizardry of enthusiastic South American rosarians; where she visited rose shows held in Montevideo and Buenos Aries. In her native South Africa Vivienne Black met centenarian, Gwen Fagan, who generously shared her immense rose knowledge and experience to fellow rose growers. Whereas in New Zealand, Doug Grant discovered the latest stunning varieties which have been recently been released from the industrious world – renowned breeding houses.

Enjoy!

I forward to personally meeting those international delegates fortunate enough to attend Nordic Roses 2024, being held in Sweden, at the beginning of July. If you haven’t yet registered, full details are available by visiting: www.nordicroses2024.com

With warmest regards,

Derek
